*Her body ached. It ached and hurt, and the veins inside her pounded. She needed blood, and she needed it fast. She wasn’t sure how she’d ended up here, but the surroundings felt familiar. Had she actually left that unpleasant hell of hers? Was she really back in the real world, a world she’d willingly left, however unbelievable it now seemed. But she knew this world, after returning to it from hell a second time she knew that she was back in the world of the living, even though she always had thought that it actually belonged to her and her kin. Yes, Darla was back, back from hell once again. Oh, the irony as she’d chosen to leave this world all by herself, but it didn’t matter anymore. She was here to stay and she was alive. Not alive in that weak, unpleasant sense of being a human, no, she was alive in the sense of still having her precious, true self inside her body. And that creature craved blood, and it craved energy. Not without effort she heaved herself up from the ground where she was lying, a chilling calm surveying the air around her.

It took her some time to realise where she had ended up, and when she did she almost blurt out a short laugh. She knew this place, even though it sure had changed, she could feel where she was. The good old atmosphere residing near the hellmouth in Sunnydale couldn’t be mistaken, and it seemed she had appeared at the very centre of it as well. She obviously had been kicked out to what was left of the library in Sunnydale high, and with a soft laugh she lifted her gaze to look around, but all she could see was cracked walls and the shadows of destruction.

She soon directed her steps to the outside, and stepping out into the open night she stopped to look at the scenery, which had changed since her last visit. The very air was different, or rather the atmosphere. It was heavy and filled with hostility and soft smelling fear. She was surprised that it didn’t appeal to her, but then again she’d never been that interested in the scheme of others unless it didn’t amuse her or involved someone she took interest in. It didn’t bother her of course, but she wondered if it would, eventually. She was evil and all, but she was tired of seeing others doing what they thought was oh so evil, which only ended up as a lame failure of bringing hell to earth, or whatever those small doers tried to accomplish. It could be interesting though, but first things first- she better get updated as to what was on the schedule in this pitiful little town, but above all she really needed to feed. Leaving the school area behind her, she headed downtown to find some activity.*
