I must be a terrible fan because that sounds like way too much effort for me :p I've only been to one Armageddon con here (and even then, it was only in passing as I literally came across it walking down the street, and didn't stay long), so can only imagine how much busier it was for you.

I was surprised that they (the one you went to) have shows like Community present. I am informed that it is a nerdy show (I thought the complete opposite - it's hilarious and I thought it was pretty cool and mainstream enough to be included with 30 Rock rather than Star Trek, but whatever) hence it's inclusion.

It was insane. Fun, but insane. XP

Yeah, some of the choices in which shows have presentations at SDCC are real headscratchers. Breaking Bad? Bones? Glee? Sons of Anarchy? *headdesk* Really? Yes, they're very popular shows, but they don't seem to neatly fall into the typical comic book/animation/gaming/scifi/fantasy/horror genres. I think some, like Person of Interest, have some vague shades of science fiction (like PoI's idea of the government computer program that monitors everyone wherever they go), but it's left in the deep background for the most part. *shrugs*

Thanks for the great report and tweets! Fun to experience the con through your eyes. :)

Do you think it's getting too big? Like you said, some of these shows really don't belong here so maybe they should be cut out so the con would go back to it's roots.

You're welcome! Gotta spread the love! :D

As to the size of the con, I think it's certainly been straining at the seams the last couple of years. I'd like to see the obviously non-genre shows go away (because yo, this is supposed to be a geekfest, LOL!), but they're a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of real genre-related programming going on, so that may not help much even in the short term. In the long term, there are plans underway to build a major expansion to the San Diego convention center, but it'll be at least 4-5 years at the earliest before it's completed. So at the moment, they're kinda stuck as far as space goes. *wibbles*
