Summary: There are some things Bodie and Doyle don’t say to one another.
Disclaimer: I don't own these characters, nor am I making any money from them. I simply borrow them from time to time.
They don’t talk about them. Not even with one another.
Not even when they’re in bed, safe, secure, making love, locked in passion, holding one another, sharing kisses, caresses, touches.
They don’t talk about them.
They’ll talk about anything else: hopes, dreams, wants, desires, friendship, Cowley, the past, the present, the future. Sometimes they’ll even talk about their love for one another.
But what they don’t mention, what they’ll never share, are the nightmares that visit them.
The nightmares their job brings to them.
Their nightmares are their individual secrets.
They don’t talk about them. Not even with one another.

He thought his memories of them would fade. Like his memories of the other men and women he had known, cared about, and lost, had faded.
They didn't.
He thought they were just two of his agents, two of his boys. His top team, but still just two of his staff.
They weren't.
He thought his grief over their deaths, their untimely, far too early, unnecessary deaths, would go.
It didn't.
He thought he'd start to remember how much they'd annoyed him, how they'd played by their rules more often than by his.
He didn't.
Instead he remembered the love.

He still dreams of Doyle.
Every night.
He still dreams of his death.
Sees it.
Feels it.
Hears it.
Tastes it.
Touches it.
His dreams are too real.
Too vivid.
Too tangible.
But the dreams of Doyle dead aren't as bad as the other dreams.
The dreams where Doyle's still alive.
Still alive and with him.
Still alive and loving him.
Still alive and making him promise.
Making him promise not to do anything daft.
He wants those dreams to end.
He wants the dreams of Doyle's death to return.
He wants the end of dreams.
He wants the end.
