Told HR I wasn't having him as my boss any more, and if they wanted me still working there in any capacity they could call me with a job offer.

Given the state of management there in general, I don't think they'll be able to get their act together on this. And to be honest, the only job I would want back there is as a consultant, charging rates which include the phrase "percentage of annual turnover".

I didn't like anyone there in management, most of them disliked me because I asked questions and demanded actual competence from them, and in general it would take more money than anyone apart from the Managing Director could authorise to get me to walk back in those doors.

I hope that doesn't screw with unemployment payments, but you're well shot of that horrid place. No-one needs that kind of stress! I hope you find something better quick-smart *hugs*

Oh, it probably will, but it was a case of that, or dropping dead from stress, or throwing the boss's desk out the window with him stapled to it.

He's never managed to keep any employee for longer than nine months before they quit because of him, and no-one in the company apart from upper management (who can tell him what to do) can stand him. His people skills would rate in the negative numbers, he's spineless when it comes to getting a proper budget out of the director, and under his watch the entire infrastructure of the company has become a disaster area - which he blames on his lack of budget.

In my view, if he can't get an infrastructure budget out of the director sufficient to meet the needs of the company, he should be standing aside and making way for someone who can.

From a cannon, one would hope.
