Laundry robots

Being the internet, everyone has already heard about the clothes-folding robot in development.

What I found interesting was the deprecation of the speed of the robot. Sure, it takes multiple minutes (was 25, now down to 6) to figure out exactly what a piece of fabric is supposed to be and then fold it neatly, but people are missing one point:

The only things I fold are his jocks (hey, they fit better in the drawer!) and socks, face washers, tea towels and winter woollies (none of our Spring/Summer/Autumn clothing gets folded). Everything else is either ironed and hung on hangers or simply hung. Even towels go back to their respective hooks and rails.

Unless this robot hangs clothes on hangers and puts them in the robes, and does my ironing for me, it has no place here, since the actual folding takes me all of 20 minutes, even after a huge (8 load) catch-up wash like I did over the last three days... The ironing, however, is going to take me about 4 hours all up :/

It could probably iron things too, given sufficient programming. Or, more easily, lay them perfectly flat on a press, press them, and then put them on hangers.

...assuming you want your socks on hangers :)
