Well, I have plans to get a set of them - little icons/emblems for the various characters I've created - tattooed down the outside of my left thigh. Not visible during a workday, or indeed any time in public except when swimming (I don't wear shorts). Those who asked politely would get the individual symbols explained; those who didn't would get a polite "it's personal", and a change of subject.

If I could switch them off, I think I'd still get the same ones done.

Ugh... UV tattoos...

I love tattoos but I will not be getting UV ones until I am a LOT happier about the safety of the technology...

I'm waiting for 'inks' which are actually a set of encapsulated microspheres made of solid, bioneutral plastic of the appropriate colour in a biodissolvable solution or gel. Inject them like normal inks, the solution or gel is 'eaten' by the body, and only the plastic 'dust' remains.

Even better than standard plastic dyes (which can fade) would be using iridescent or Tyndall-colour microsurfaces.

Only if they can assure me the experience will be COMPLETELY pain-free. Until then, nuh-uh, no way, nope.

But then I would get a very simple heart on a certain part of my, erm, chest.

If I could get a tattoo that I could switch off, I would get full-body filigree.

I'd like to have a tattoo, but never could decide on exactly what or where, and I know I'd start to be terribly dissatisfied if the art and the colours weren't excellent or when I wanted a change. So tattoos that can be turned off and on - and ones that can be layered over/altered as well - might get me to try them out.

The one I've thought about the most would be a phoenix, wings spread, blazing, in the upper middle of my back. But I don't know if I could ever get one that looks as good as the one in my head, especially the colours.
