The evening of my birthday was actually much better. We went to the Sakura Buffet and they had sashimi! I'd been wanting to try some for quite awhile. They had two different kinds. Happy belated birthday!

I've never had sashimi, but I sure did enjoy the raw fish in my cheapo supermarket sushi back when I still ate meat, haha.

I don't think the cheapo sushi in my supermarket has raw fish in it. It's all imitation crab, which is cooked, apparently.

Mine carried the usual California rolls, but they usually also had rainbow rolls, spicy tuna rolls, eel rolls, and dragon rolls. If the color didn't look off, I'd always grab some.

All they have at the grocery stores out here is California rolls and something called 'surimi rolls'. Also made with imitation crab, just minced into smaller pieces.

If I want real sushi I have to go to a restaurant.
