I'm very much sold on low carb. That's where I started last year. But I've been zero carb now since December 08, because it seems like every time I deviate from it and add a food -- gluten free or no -- I get sick/depressed/anxious again.
I'm starting to suspect that I'm one of those poor sods that Atkins mentioned who can't tolerate carbs much at all. (sighs) But hey, I feel better, so it's all good.

Yeah, I do eat refined sugars and carbs, but they are the tip of my iceberg, a condiment, a treat.
The rest is protein, some fat, and dark green veggies.

And seconds all that about the aches, pains and fatigue.
I woke up after 7 hours this morning, feeling wide awake and ready to go. I never did that even as a teenager! I was always a 10+ hour a night person, and always woke up groggy. It's a nice change.

My problem is that I don't get much support; I used to follow a couple of internet blogs last year but then during the elections they went all Eagleland on me and now every time I think I find a good resource it's full of people I don't want to patronize. So listening to your experience, someone I've liked and read for mumblemumble years now, is very encouraging for me :-) Even if you do like Twilight ;-)
I just picked up another modified Atkins book called The Metabolic Miracle. Problem is it's all full of "do this every five hours, except here" rules. I just want a list of what to eat and what not to eat. I need simple, dammit! So I'm working back into Atkins' book. But I'm definitely going to check out GCBC. Sorry to ramble.

Where Atkins is concerned, I think his pre-70s diet was the best. After that, people began monkeying with it, and I think it went a bit astray. I don't want to calculate anything, thank ye.
One of the nice things about having to go Zero Carb myself is that it's extremely simple. Meat at every meal, nothing that didn't come from an animal (beyond spices for most people). You eat when hungry. You eat as much as you like. And as long as you get enough fat to replace the energy from carbs/sugar, you're fine.
And ... HEH! Regarding Twilight. But hey, I live in Forks, WA, which is slowly becoming a Disney'ish version of Twilight Land.
