Is LiveJournal Dead ?
Why would I post this to our community? Well, for one, asking is LiveJournal dead does have a lot to do with the economy in general, when you stop and think about it. And, more to the point, LiveJournal is still the platform we have chosen to use for this community forum. (More on that later.)

Commenting late (ETA: Wow a year late, I saw February and assumed 2012), but... I feel like the problem isn't so much that LJ is dead as it is that the purpose of LJ is completely different, and in that more because the internet's changed. I just commented on this yesterday.

When I joined LJ, the point was really to be a geek. I mean TBBT style, five page long rants about whether or not Hermione Granger had dark brown hair or light brown hair. Second-by-second reviews of the LOTR movies. Crackfics. Crack theories. Insanely random but fun polls. Because the internet's all about not petting your Teal Deer these days, but rather getting your thoughts out as quickly and concisely as possible, that doesn't really happen. So people like me - who reveled in being able to show off our nerdier, more meta sides - accuse LJ of dying when really, we're not in 2003 anymore ( ... )
