Christmas Sales 2011
Do you think that shoppers (including yourself and those you know personally, plus shoppers in general) spent more, about the same, or less than they did last year?

An increase of over 100%. I know it sounds silly, but if more folks did just that (went from about $20 to about $40) it actually does make a huge difference in the economy at large. Stunning, but true, yano?

I'm spending less on other, more on Matt and me.

Whenever I go in a store, its about empty.

I've noticed a LOT of reports of tire kickering and just plain old window shopping in the news lately. Seems likely that a many have pushed some of their shopping out to the final stretch.

It is the season of excess, after all. There was a lot of obligatory spending on cr*p, I noticed. A lot of plastic was being proffered as payment and I hope they were debit cards, but I fear not. I think people probably were guilted into overspending.. and after all, if you are already in debt, and you're getting friendly reminders to pay your bill, don't be late, what's their problem? Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, as my granny would say.

Me? all cash Christmas. I saved for it. I paid off all my credit cards and never again. I did keep a few for hotels, car rental, air tix...

Cheap plastic crap for...

All cash spending this year, eh? Seems like a pretty good idea that most people still haven't figured out yet.
