It looks like Gaius has watched "The End of Suburbia" and read "The Long Emergency," the former starring your old camp conselor J.H. Kunstler and the latter written by him. He probably reads "Clusterfuck Nation" as well. Kunstler tells the same story about the history of suburbia and how it has taken over the American Dream. He also uses "Happy Motoring" in exactly the same way ( ... )
