Even mentally ill people can have "an agenda." That "manifesto" was not written by a person who fits the legal definition of sane.

He sounds angry and frustrated and overwhelmed, but not certainly not 'legally insane'. Sometimes suicide is a positive act. The Japanese believe that to be true. As I said, this was a 'revolutionary act.'

I agree that he was clearly angry and frustrated, but I also think the man was suffering from some form of mental illness, based on what he wrote, the way he wrote it, and his actions.

You could say Ted Kaczynski was a "revolutionary", and that might be true, but it was also mentally ill. The two don't need to be mutually exclusive.

He was clearly -not- sane.

On a side note, I was in an office building just about a mile away when he crashed his plane, and I really don't care if he was sane or insane at the moment.

I would call it an act of rebellion, but I am not one of those who believes the revolution can be violent. IMO (and I know I'm probably in the minority on this) the revolution requires nothing less than certain changes in human nature.

As for whether he's a leftist, I think a leftist terrorist would have hit a bank building rather than the IRS. I could be wrong.

Plenty of right wingers would also go for a bank though. Perhaps a military contractor or went after the mansion of a big business type.

But this guy also blew up his families home so what does that add to the equation?

Since he was an anarcho-communist, I think it's fairly safe to say that instruments of state power would be hit either way.
