That's not my chart, it's Calculated Risk's chart.

You know that the NBER doesn't get around to declaring turning points for at least six to nine months after the fact, don't you?

Similarly, CR also began shading in December 2007-on as the start date of the recession back at the start of 2008, nearly a year before the NBER BCDC made public their recession call.
