I don't know that this is a sign of the recession, so much as a sign that newspapers failed to adapt to changing media. Basically, craigslist killed the print newspaper when it, and other free sites, killed classified revenue.

I think it's both, really. Recessions have a way of weeding out the week, under-performing, those not able or willing to adapt.

I used to read it when I lived in Arizona, and kept up online from time to time.
