This paper is an example of why I think that economics, which certainly could become a science on the order of social psychology, just isn't a science at all. The Postmodernist/Deconstructionst critique of all fields of knowledge, including the sciences (something that annoys scientists no end), applies to economics; it's too driven by ideology. While there are definitely liberal and conservative biologists, for instance, there aren't separate liberal and conservative theories of biology. On the other hand, there definitely are liberal, conservative, and even socialist theories of economics.

In that context, the words that sprang unbidden to my mind were, "LYSENKO LIVES!!" which I would say underscores your point rather neatly. lol

I think I need to be a bit more awake before I tackle this puppy, but my initial scan of it is exciting...and Goddess Bless me if I ever thought I'd say such a thing about an academic economics paper.
