I swear I read a story in which teen!Spock's mother bullies Sarek into taking him to Earth on a business trip so teen!Spock can see the planet for the first time. While I don't know any specific fic finding communities for STXI, ststory_finder is a general one for all the ST fandom.

This may not be the same story you mentioned, but it does share a lot of similarities. It's basically Dirty Dancing, Star Trek Reboot style.
