Of all the places Elena Gilbert could have ended up in her life, on Klaus Mikaelson's doorstep was not one of those places she would have ever considered.  But there she was, staring quietly at the door as she weighed the options of her plan.  There was no doubt in her mind that it was crazy, psychotic even, but she had nowhere else to go ( Read more... )

It had not been a good night for Klaus. Oh, he was alive and still in possession of his own body, but slaughtering eleven hybrids and Mrs. Lockwood had really not been on his party plans. That Caroline had been playing him, he'd been aware. Any time Stefan got dodgy and Caroline got nice, someone was playing him and they were up to something. They'd known. No reason to go after the sword if they hadn't--not trusting him wasn't reason enough. They needed him to interpret, needed what he knew, until they didn't. Only the little wolf had told him the truth, and he knew she had an ulterior motive. Didn't care much what it was, honestly. She'd saved him. The smell of spilled blood was overwhelming as it swept over her, clogging her senses and making her jaw burn even as she stared at Klaus in surprise when he yanked open the door to stare at her in confusion. Taking in drying blood that covered him from head to toe, she looked alarmed without really knowing why. He seemed fine, so it wasn't his blood but that made her worry whose blood it was.

"What happened to you?" She asked, stepping forward, forcing him to move back as she entered his home and studied him with a concerned frown.

Klaus fell back to let her in, not completely certain about the part where she was coming in the house, but sliding a glance over her, she didn't seem to have a weapon on her, so he didn't push her back out.

"Had a bit of a disagreement with my hybrids. Figured you'd know all about that." His lips quirked. "Or were you too busy with Damon for them to let you in on the plan?"

There was a flicker of emotion when he mentioned Damon but then she looked wary as she wondered just how much he knew. Her and Damon had been careful to keep whatever was going on between them a secret. Of course she had told Bonnie and Caroline but would the blonde vampire really tell Klaus about it?

Pushing past that worry, she looked surprised then. "What plan?"
