Panting softly, Elena came to a pause as she frowned a little at her surroundings.  Suddenly the idea of going for a run seemed like a bad one.  Or maybe it only seemed bad because she had decided to go along the path in the trees instead of down the road despite the cook warning her that she could be hit by a car if she went along the road ( Read more... )

Elijah was aware Elena had gone out for a run--he took the time to get some things done that he'd been neglecting in favor of spending time with her. When he realized how long she'd been gone, he became a little concerned, but that concern grew the longer she was gone. He considered going out and tracking her down, but thought he'd give her a few more minutes. That time up, he decided he wasn't waiting any longer and started out of the house to follow her trail.

The sight of her coming up toward the house gave him pause, feeling a bit sheepish that he'd worried, and then he saw the sight of her. Real worry running through him he moved to meet her in a blur.

"Are you all right?"

Elena caught sight of Elijah seconds before he was suddenly in front of her, causing her to jump just a bit before she let out a little, somewhat sheepish, laugh.

"I'm fine." She was both relieved to see him and yet wishing she had gotten a chance to clean up before he came across her again.

"I just got a little...sidetracked." That would be her new word for lost, okay? "And there was a mud incident."

His gaze swept over her, looking for injuries and seeing nothing serious. No scent of her bleeding badly enough to need a doctor was on the air, and he let himself relax a tiny bit, though not completely.

"I can see that," he said, a touch dryly, but far more concerned with harm than her having mud on her. "A hot bath might seem to be in order."

The only thing that was really injured on her was her pride at the moment but there was a definite ache in her back and maybe one in her leg as well. But, no, nothing was bleeding.

"I wouldn't say no to one." She replied, toeing off her muddy shoes before she started on the zipper of her jacket to peel it off.
