Stacy had been in Princeton for a conference on medical billing. It wasn't her favorite thing to do, but it was necessary for a medical malpractice lawyer to know how Medicaid and Medicare billing worked. Normally, Stacy was pretty good about keeping herself occupied during these types of boring workshops but today something was just off.

She wasn't hungry, but her stomach hurt. She was close to the hospital, so she figured that she could run by and get Lisa to look at it if she wasn't busy. Stacy opened her phone to call Mark, leaving him a quick message that she might be home late since she felt ill. He wouldn't mind, probably, and even if he did Stacy was going by to see Lisa anyway. She was her own woman and they were having problems. If he didn't give her space, there'd be even more problems than there currently were.

She and Mark had been having problems ever since she'd slept with Greg, not that Mark would ever know about that. The small arguments that they'd had escalated into big arguments over, well, nothing. It was enough to make Stacy start smoking again and grind her teeth. Come to think of it, she was grinding her teeth right now. Of course that might have been due to the fact that her stomach was killing her.

A few more hours and the pain was the kind of unbearable, crippling pain that Stacy was fairly sure she'd never experienced before. It was concentrated in her low right side and when she pressed there, the pain made her wince and tears came to her eyes. Yeah, it was time to see Lisa. She begged out of the conference and drove the quick drive to Princeton-Plainsboro, only to be stopped by Nurse Previn.

"Look, I realize that everything is," Stacy choked out, broken by pain, "backed up, but I need to see Lisa Cuddy in an exam room this minute." Stacy was nothing if not persuasive and soon she was lying on an exam table and waiting on a doctor to come and see her.
