falling together

House had been in the clinic when he first noticed the correlation. Just before calling in a fifteen-year-old girl, he'd  taken a Vicodin absently, and about fifteen minutes into the exam, she'd lied to him about something little--whether this was her first boyfriend, maybe. Instead of just the mild taste he'd normally get, the latex seemed stronger, more pronounced.

Now, three more patients and a sign-out sheet later, House was up in his office and on his third Vicodin of the day. His head felt light and sort of floaty, and he just needed someone to come by and lie to test his theory.
