Chase had come in to work early that morning. Early enough to actually get to use the markers -- after checking over his shoulder about five separate times, just in case someone was lurking.
He added a line under the original patients and made two more boxes. In one, he wrote: 'Skin reaction - BLUE, Blackouts, No Allergic Reaction. In the other, he scribbled in: Reacts to pain with pleasure. Fell from a large cliff. Possible hypothermia?
And with that, he sat to survey, the tiniest thrill rushing through him at getting to use the markers.
