I love it! It is so sweet, and yet it is also terribly melancholy, what with it being Richard and all. And I love that Isabelle likes Shakespeare and is interested in Verne, because, AWESOME. And Hal being all lovestruck. And that whole thing Richard has where he keeps reminding people of doomed women. And just generally -- *hearts* Thank you for writing it! :D

I don't think it's possible to write Richard (post-1880) and not have it be melancholy...

I just can't help but think of Isabelle as a sort of proto-nerd. She hasn't quite had the chance to become quite as awesomely nerdy as Anne because I keep imagining her parents as being far stricter, but she does try! And I think Richard appreciates that about her.

And, yes, there is that thing about Richard and doomed women. Which, in turn, makes me think of this song and has convinced me that La Traviata really needs to make an appearance in this universe.

Anne's parents totally raised her to be a nerd. ;)

Also, YES to La Traviata. :D

Poor Richard. My brain has wandered off to the last time he sees Robbie and 'Addio del passato'.

I just love this! Everything to do with Isabelle is wonderful--her love of novels and plays and her worry about how she must appear and how she's excited (and afraid) at the prospect of being unladylike--oh, so cute!

... and yet, as angevin2 says, there's that thread of melancholy woven all through. It's excellent.

Aww, I'm so glad you think she's cute, because I find her hopelessly adorable. :)

(And, as I said to angevin2 earlier, I don't know if it's possible to write Richard after Anne's death without being melancholy.)

Thank you!! This actually takes place before the play properly begins, but it is a wonderful play and really well worth reading.

This is fantastic! And you make Harry human, which is so needed at times...

Poor Isabelle. Life just has it in for her *sighs*

Oy, yes. What is it with me and doomed women named Isabelle?

And I just imagine Harry being very much like Humphrey before that whole deposition thing...
