I'm celebrating the three week anniversary of my cold today. ::throws confetti:: I didn't have any cake, but there was ice cream. Because it makes my throat feel better.

Such a perfect opportunity for a McDanno moment in this episode. I wonder why they didn't take it.

I thought we had three good McDanno scenes this episode. After the way the last few seasons have gone, I'm practically feeling spoiled.

That was Jacob Carter/Selmak. :)

Yeah, while I find it awful that Danny went there, he is one to very quickly act. He explodes. It's not really a positive trait, IMO, in many ways. I love that it gave us the opportunity to see Scott show so much. Jesus, his face when they brought out the barrel, and again after the barrel of his gun shot Reyes dead.

It's truly terrible, and I wish this were a show that was adept at follow-through.

And I miss Scott already. Just a guess that he's fulfilled most of his quota for the season. :(

D'oh! ::feelz stoopid:: Clearly it's been way too long since I watched the show.

I wish this were a show that was adept at follow-through.

So do I, because when they give us emotional moments, they're usually knockouts. But then if show was good at follow-through, Steve would've gotten his PTSD story line back in season one, and the attempt to jump-start it in season 4 would've actually gone somewhere.

Just a guess that he's fulfilled most of his quota for the season.

I hope not. Show is on a roll right now. And there's nothing like meaty Danny scenes to make it obvious how much the show suffers when Danny's not there.

Or at least had it triggered by something relevant (like Danny's motion bomb episode and being told over and over again to leave him behind) rather than out of nowhere pretending it had been an issue for 3 1/2 years but no one noticed.

im curious, because I missed it. you said you were hoping that Scott hadn't already fulfilled most of his quota for the season, is he being written off the show or has the fact that he's in the show for like 5 minute increments to complete his story arc been intentional? i feel like I missed something here.

OH MY FRICKING GOD. I'm... seriously THEY WENT THERE. I screamed at my screen. Anyway, I'm still so shell-shocked by that whole scene (which was terrifically acted on all accounts, goddamnit, wow) that I don't even know whether I liked that they went there or not, but holy hell, I hope this spawns fic ( ... )

That was some very powerful emotional stuff. I can't believe they've wasted Scott Caan on being the comic relief sidekick for so long when he's capable of scenes like this.

Oh yeah, I mean, he does the comic relief beautifully because he has great timing, but craftwise, he sometimes puts more meat on the bones of a single shot than the others with their whole arcs.
Still, I can't believe how much they're wasting ANY of their serious, SERIOUS talent (DDK anyone?) in favour of the flashy kitchy action shit. I mean, I love the flashy action shit as much as the next girl (though has anyone else noticed the serious hard-on for making guys jump on the hoods of cars to avoid getting flattened? I mean, it's badass and all, but so was Matrix before they did it over and over again) but they often have so much potential in their dramatic arcs that then gets treated with a tone-deafness that makes me cringe sometimes.
So far this season has incited nothing but hope though. Let's see if they can keep it up.

I agree that they shouldn't have had Danny kill Reyes. I really was waiting for the whole team (or a SEAL team) to come storming down the steps and take him out. I was convinced that they were waiting upstairs and we're taking the bad guys out when Danny and Steve were led back upstairs. That would make much more sense to me. Though I do understand how finding out he went through gays of Hell trying to save his brother, only to find out he was already dead, and then on top of that, having Reyes threaten Grace....Yeah, I can see Danny snapping and killing him. I just wish it didn't happen because the Show does not have a good reputation for following through on those plot lines.

That's how I thought it was going to go, too. But then I also thought Danny would be smart enough to demand proof that Matt was still alive before going through with everything.

Yeah I wondered about that too. As a cop who dealt with kidnappings before you'd think he'd ask for proof of life before doing something that could endanger his, and his teammates, careers and lives.

Yes, I really am this far behind on watching the show. I have vague dreams of catching up during the holiday break.

Having Danny outsmart Reyes would have been better, but I actually kindof liked how they handled that scene. I have a soft spot for good guys who decide to stop taking crap and just end the bad guy instead of letting him come back over and over and over. Seeing Steve and Danny take out the guys upstairs would have been icing on the cake.

On the bright side, Danny and his ohana now have several million dollars to use if they're careful! (And, y'know, the same people who didn't say anything about a couple of guys bringing several million dollars in cash into Colombia don't say anything when they take it back out again.)

I'm 3 episodes behind on Arrow and 2 episodes behind on Grimm myself. I'm ready for a holiday break.

Speaking of holidays, have you seen this year's crop of ugly Christmas sweater W00t shirts? I failed a saving throw vs. the Cthulhu one.

It's a good thing I didn't get you one! I was debating whether you would like it.

awfulhorrid and I are up to date on Grimm so far. We never started Arrow, but it's tempting to go back and watch it now that we've started The Flash.

I wasn't sure if I would or not, but I really like The Flash, which is more than I can say for Constantine. I really wanted to like Constantine, but sadly I do not.
