Not with a bang . . .

The world seems determined to do everthing exactly wrong.

Over the weekend, I learned Netscape is being discontinued. Realistically, this leaves Explorer, which is crap, and Firefox, which is nowhere near as reliable.

Now, I learn those twisty bulbs that already have many other drawbacks can cause migraines and aggravate other health problems.

But we have rocks in our heads for not using them.

The mercury is a big problem for me. We can't just toss them in the garbage when they burn out. The nearest HHW drop-off is something like thirty miles away, and their hours are exactly horrible for fitting a visit into our schedule.

I wonder if the flickering they mention is part of a problem I have with them. I'll be talking to someone and find myself losing track of the conversation and staring at the bulb. It's annoying. I'm not completely zoning out or anything, just getting distracted.

GE's Reveal bulbs are really nice for color. And I haven't noticed these things lasting any longer.

I know naught of what you speak.

I've long since made the switch over to Firefox from Netscape... Netscape was constantly crashing even with clean installs once 6.0 hit. Atrocious. I have found Firefox several times more reliable; I've had three crashes in Firefox over the past few years. I've kept count. ;) That doesn't include the handful of problems caused by third-party extensions, but those are very easily removed so that they stop being problematic.

Now, in fairness, Firefox might need a newer computer... I'm not sure. That said, I dropped Netscape while still on a Pentium 400ish desktop. Yay student debt that pays for laptops.

Hi there! We were just talking about you the other day!

Staying safe?

We've got a 933MHz Pentium III. Netscape has been very good. I tried installing Firefox a couple of times in the last three years or so, and far too many websites I tried to visit were masses of broken images and bad code. Disasterous. Useless. So I come back to my nice, cozy, reads-everything Netscape 7.2. I didn't think much of Netscape 8.0 - all the disadvantages of IE and Firefox combined - and I didn't even bother looking at Netscape 9.0.

All is well! Little violence hits Cochabamba.

Man. Download the latest Firefox, please. Just give it a try. I've not encountered anything like that... and I'm betting most of those issues would have been resolved by now.

Just try again! I'm actually very interested to see problems that extreme.

Warning: Maternal Noise Ahead!

I don't care if "little violence hits Cochabamba," I still worry. Take care of yourself, please. I expect you to come back to the States some day in one piece.
