I ponder

Feb 10, 2009 19:51

After Sunday night's nastiness whereby I was laughed at for wearing all black in public, I was lovingly deluged by awesome Scene people to compliment and encourage me.

And then I get an email today from a normie I know that accused me of looking "inappropriate" and that I was "intentionally provoking people by my dress".

Yes, darkgypsy13, they're still

stupid people

Rude emails are "inappropriate" and "intentionally provoking people." Message rendered neutral.

Oh, and btw... you're too openly critical of others, you are ALWAYS an absolutest in EVERYTHING you say, and you fucking cuss too much. I'll be glad to council you in any of these areas if you'd like some advice.

I'm only trying to help.

I know fashion can be a hot topic, but this is getting absurd. Unless you were wearing a tee shirt with an offensive saying printed in big, bold letters, I'm sure you looked just dandy (judging on my limited interactions with you.)

Now if I really wanted to be provocative, I could have worn my "Get Away From Me" t-shirt that I actually have ;)

I can lend ya my classic Chemlab shirt with the nice "Fuck Art Let's Kill" on the back. Wear that around for a bit. :)

I had friends in college who would invite me to go out "shocking" at the mall. Getting dressed up just to freak people out. I never went.

I dress how I do because it fits me, fits how I want to look. If other people think that's inappropriate it's their problem. Not mine.

Of course not all regularly dressed folks are closed minded. One day I was at the mall having lunch and this 70-odd year old woman was eyeballing me. She walked up to my table after a few minutes, and I prepped to deal with some foul spew. Instead she asked where I got the handcuffs on my jacket. She wanted to get a pair for her grandson!
