On the other hand, regardless of other aspects of your life, you have a duty to yourself to pull your finances into line. Live beneath your means regardless of how you are doing, prioritize your issues to put a premium on having secure living conditions, including transportation, and at least 3 months full living expenses in the bank (preferably 6 months). It's bad form to throw yourself on the tracks and hope for rescue if a train happens to be bearing down.
