Pinky's visit and assholey vets...

Back from the vet with Pinky :o)

So she got her shot of meds (antibiotics and antinflamatories) and we're scheduled to go back next Wednesday.  Hopefully by then everything will have cleared up.  The vet's worried about her liver, and she's a bigger cat so she's looking out for diabetes, but when we go in on Wednesday we'll get another urine sample ( Read more... )

Ugh the vet sounds like an asshole. She is there to treat your pet and really, she should have spoken to your mum, it doesn't matter that there are other patients, she was treating your cat at the time! >.< Bleh I don't blame you for getting so pissed and yeah, the next time ask for one of the other two vets *nods*

I hope Pinky is okay soon and that her infection clears up :)

*hugs*

Yeah, she was :o/ I can understand feeling rushed bc of falling behind, but NOT rushing through patients to catch up. idk... But yes, next time I'll definitely be asking for another vet. *sigh* whatever... as long as Pinky's on the road to recovery, I should just let everything else go.

But thanks again! :oD *hugs back* Both Pinky and I appreciate the well wishes ;o)

This is obviously way back, so hopefully Pinky *all better now*. I just had to leave a note of moral support, some vets are fantastic, but some are so crass. They seem to think that money is available at the drop of a hat and that if you can't pay thousands, you don't care about your pet as much. I've had this several times and the reason I'm so broke is because looking after my animals properly TAKES ALL MY MONEY. Especially the horses. We don't spend any money on ourselves, but our equine vets just write themselves a blank cheque every time they come out to us, they often leave it late to agree to come so when they do it's out of hours and costs at least twice as much. They imply they're doing some extra thing as a favour and then we find out we've been charged for it, and quite a lot. I've had their accounts department trying to tell me what I can and what I cannot call a vet out for, because my bill is currently high. They also rush sometimes, miss out important things and won't look at another horse while they're there, even ( ... )

Geeze, it sounds like you're having a much worse experience than I've had. Sadly, it seems at times that the people in the health field are more jaded and separate from their job than their job calls for. If you're in the veterinarian field, you'd think the people would care and try to do their best for the animals their looking after. But it seems that great vets have been few and far between. I'm sorry about your horse... that's horrible. But I'm glad the vet caught a problem with another horse. It sucks, but sometimes it takes a jarring experience for someone to snap into focus. Hopefully he'll be more thorough now ( ... )

What a lovely reply, thank you. I'm so sorry to hear about Pinky, I know there's just nothing you can do with a tumour like that and for her, your love was the most important thing; dogs can feel it coming off you in waves. They hang around too, when they've passed, to make sure you're ok. It's so natural to feel guilty even when you've done nothing wrong, we just beat ourselves up because we care. I do hope you'll be able to feel more at peace about it soon and enjoy your happy memories ( ... )
