putting hair up (and hair loss remedies?)

hi. this is my first post here. i have thick, abundant loosely curly hair 40 inches long at the longest.

i've discovered this recent year that i'm losing hair at the front of my scalp on my right hand side. i'm attributing this to the fact that i pretty much always have my hair up in a bun. (and i wrap it around the same direction each time)

so, last week i discovered that if i tie my hair in a knot before wrapping the rest around and adding my "rubber" band, it stays up much better (it always used to get loose and not look very bun-like) and the weight of the hair is supported by more strands than just the hair around the top of my head.

are there any other up-dos that are easy and don't require that all the hair be supported by the roots at the front of my head? i don't care that it looks fancy. utilitarian is better for me, since i'm hoping to get a farming apprenticeship this year.

i do no 'poo (no_poo, currently i've been using flaxseed mucilage and hibiscus tea, and i also use henna) is there anything i can do to encourage the hair at the top of my forehead to come back?
