Yeah, yeah, I know. I need to post.

I'll post for real sometime soon, I promise. Suffice to say, I'm alive and holding it together.

Meanwhile, here's an "NSV"* from this evening: something I'd never been able to do with my kid before:

last weekend, ocean city had free rides for 4 hours, and i took some kids with gabe. they dragged me on this thing that swings 60-75 feet back and forth in the air. first i checked with the machine operator to ensure i could fit, that was a resounding yes! so i was psyched....
THEN, it started to do it's thing, and omg, my stomache left my body and i was woozy and going to be ill. i was waving frantically to get off of the ride, while the kids screamed with glee, i was so uncomfortable
that i would mess up their good time and hurl into the booth ahead of me.
i think the operator stopped the ride early because as i hobbled out of the seats, i apologized and she said, guess you can fit, but maybe you should stay on the ground.
amen to that one!

I'm glad you survived! I guess fitting isn't the only issue. :)

I also got unexpectedly queasy the last time I tried to ride the Scrambler. I never get motion sick, but apparently, in my 30s, I can't really handle the spinny rides any more.

You two are so f*ing cute it makes my jaw drop. See also: kids who aren't ashamed to have spirit and vigorous happiness (in contexts not including mockery) past the time when they grow their big teeth, and who don't find it necessary to adopt fake-ennui, are my HEROES and she is definitely one.
Also also: You look awesome. Also also also: given this post's context, it also made me a little verklemt. Lastly: is this the three-county fair? If so, I miss it.

It was The Taste of West Springfield. (In case you wondered, West Springfield tastes like pierogies.)
