I originally hopped online for a completely different reason, but having gotten word of the following I forgot all about it.

It is confirmed that Aaron Allston is writing a new X-Wing: Wraith Squadron novel.

THAT... IS... AWESOME.

Seriously, this is fantastic news. In my opinion, Aaron Allston's X-Wing novels are the best books that the Star Wars ( Read more... )

Yun Yub, Commander!

For the longest time I felt like there needed to be another X-Wing book, or possibly even another X-Wing series(ie. a whole new squadron instead of the Rogues or the Wraiths).

While I disagree with you about Karen Traviss,(I'll admit to absolutely loving both her SW and self-created work)I too am excited to see that there will finally be another X-wing novel!

Is there any info on the plot or a release date? Now that I know about this I can't wait to get my hands on it.

You know, impersonating an Ewok is a felony on some worlds. :-)

For me, this is not only the return of my favorite SW author to my favorite SW series with some of my favorite SW characters, but also something of a return to the days when I most loved Star Wars. Before prequels and NJO and CGI Clone Wars. A time when X-Wings had dogfights with TIE Fighters, when stormtroopers were mooks to be gunned down by the heroes, and Star Destroyers floated by ominously to the sound of the Imperial March.

Apparently the current plan is for it to be out in April of 2012. (An X-Wing novel *and* an Avatar spin-off. 2012 is going to be a fun year.) No other information yet. Oh, and it's
possible that Dark Horse will do more X-Wing comics at around the same time.

You have the entirely wrong view of Imperial Commando. Yes, Traviss knows the Imps are the bad guys.

Only one of the main characters is working for the Empire, and that's not even willingly. He wants to defect, and the other former Republic Commandos(now Mando warriors) want to help him defect. They just don't have the opportunity to make that happen.

I wish I could remember more about the book, so I can convince you it's not what you think, but I read it over a year ago and forget a lot of the details.

As for Allston's remark... Whatever. So he didn't like the fact that she was a Boba Fett fan.

What I like about her work is that she makes you think about things. Things that upset the usual black and white "Republic and Jedi are Good, Sith and Imperials are Bad" morality.

Thanks. I'm actually really relieved to hear that I had the wrong idea about ImpCom. Given that there's been a lot of attempts to "redeem the Empire" the EU of late (even Timothy Zhan keeps trying to rewrite history to make Thrawn not such a bad guy) I wasn't really sure ( ... )
