Hmmm... seems that when the library said that they didn't have Tigana, they just meant that they didn't have it yet. It unexpectedly turned up on hold for me. I think I'm the first person to read it, too... it's in way too pristine condition for a paperback otherwise. So I guess I'll be reading it after all, tsubaki_ny. I'll let you know what I think.

(And I hope it's not full of misogyny that I missed when I read it the first time because I was 17. ^___^ In all seriousness, I don't think it is -- I think it's fully of people making dumbquestionable choices, but I also think that the reason why they do it -- loss of identity -- is the whole point. I shall theorize at length later, most likely...)

I'm a few chapters in, and I haven't spotted any noteworthy amount of misogyny. A bit of homophobia, perhaps....

Okay, I'm quite a bit further in, and it's rather more interesting now.

(If nothing else, Kay seems to have learned since The Summer Tree to keep his worldbuilding exposition shorter and more relevant to the scene.)
