Review of the Fall '09 Season

Nov 09, 2009 23:27

Autumn is upon us, and amidst the changing colors of the leaves, the dropping temperatures, the shortened days and the holiday-themed advertisements it also brings with it another change: the start of a new season of television entertainment.

The mainstream offerings have all been undoubtedly reviewed and analyzed quite thoroughly by plenty of ( Read more... )

HE'LL LICK HER STAMP.

Some of those at least sound kind of cool, like the one about mailing yourself, however that works. And the one about armed librarians (although you'll have to let us know how Library War is [have you seen Read or Die? is it good?]).

Thanks for taking several for the team!

*gives Polter-Cow a cookie* I suppose you've earned it for not going with the obvious "he puts the package in her slot" joke.

Some of these sound cooler than they are. That said, I intend to keep watching Tegami Bachi, Book of Bantorra and Railgun until such time as I can more definitively determine their quality. (And obviously, I'm in for the long haul on Sasameki Koto.) Anyone who wants to join me in doing so is certainly welcome to.

have you seen Read or Die? is it good?
I've seen the OVA of R.O.D., which was quite fun, but not the TV series. (Deja vu. I just had this same discussion with someone else last week.)

Thanks for taking several for the team! Some of these were quite painful to sit through, but I enjoyed writing the reviews. Trying to fix all the screwups LJ made with the formatting on the other hand... that was pretty frustrating. Whole paragraphs moved to other parts of the document or everything after the first instance of bold/italics bolded/italicized... gah! (The cut text for Railgun was supposed to read "just ( ... )

Oh, duh. I thought mine was the obvious one.

Heh. Good to hear that it's fun. It's one of those that sounded cool this one time so I'm interested in seeing it.

(The cut text for Railgun was supposed to read "just think 'Magneto in a schoolgirl outfit'" but apparently quotation marks are verboten.)
Yeah, that's what apostrophes are for.

You should definitely watch the OVA of Read Or Die before the TV series, since the latter has bunches fo references to the former. (I'm watching the series right now... my friend loaned me the DVDs. It's a lot more... sitcom-ish than the OVA, which had more of a spy movie riff.)

Yeah, that's what apostrophes are for.
My attempts to edit it just cause new formatting problems that I'm too tired to deal with right now, so I'll just have to give up on inflicting that particular squicky mental image on my flist for now.

Yeah, after a few episodes I got curious and decided to check it out. I've read through Chapter 22, which I think is as much as has been translated.
