I think enriched dough was covered on an episode of The Great British Bakeoff, but I'm no baker so I can't recall what was said... sorry!

ETA: I'm impressed with your baking achievements. Honestly.

I have done the trial and error thing with hot cross buns (here in NZ they are ubiquitous round Easter), and finally found a recipe that works for me, if you're interested...

Thanks for this, lots of good advice. I especially like the tin suggestion -- will have to get my hands on one :)

You're making me want a hot cross bun now. Yum yum. Maybe I'll stop at the supermarket on the way home...

Hey, I'd swap hot cross buns for a chance to go to Chili's for lunch anyday.

Oh wow. I'm not someone who likes hot cross buns very much but I have to say, those things you can buy at Star are clearly a travesty. *shakes head* I do not approve. Your attempts look a lot better! Well done on getting the crosses, that's so cool.

(I have never tried making them - I suspect it might be trial and error, a lot of these things are sadly)

Travesty is the word. Believe it or not, the hubby actually saw something worse, though he neglected to take a picture... possibly for the best!

We don't have them in Sweden so I have never tasted them, but I have always been facinating by their looks. :)
