As to your weight, it's likely your portion sizes. Counting calories BLOWS but I had to do it for a few years before it really sank in how much I should be eating at each meal. I was convinced I ate really well and in good portions until I actually started taking stock of what I was eating. Turned out I was drinking and snacking through my entire calorie 'limit' each day, not to even mention how much food I was eating at meals.
I no longer EVER buy juice (BIIIIG calorie suck!), I don't keep snack food in the house, I only have soda when we go to the movies, and I try to really pay attention to portion sizes on the sides of foods. I was seriously shocked at what I "should" be putting on my plate versus what I was. I still have some trouble not piling food on, but I'm doing better now than I was before.
