Ever since she'd taken over for her father in the administration part of the diner, they'd needed another baker to help out. She'd half trained some of the younger kitchen staff to work with the actual physical baking part, but having someone else who knew how to mix up the dough and could be back there longer than she, Dess could at the moment would be amazing.
So she unlocked the back door of the diner, made a pot of coffee and got out the recipe book as she waited for Maureen. It'd be business as usual out front while she got Maureen started.
