Rori's eyes pricked from the heartache her friend was feeling. Boots having been discarded long ago, she pushed herself out of the hair and crawled into bed with Shosh, pulling her friend into a tight embrace. Screw what anyone else thought, her friend needed her.

"I know," she whispered quietly, using her flannel shirt sleeve to wipe at Shosh's wet cheeks. No one had really seen how she had cried when Cody had gotten hurt. She had hidden in the empty chapel for hours while waiting on the surgery. She didn't want to know what losing him would have felt like. "Crying helps the hurt." She couldn't say she knew what to say, or even that she knew how Shosh felt, but she could be there for her however she could.

Normally Shosh would have fought being treated like a weak girl, wouldn't have appreciated being 'babied' like this, pulled into a comforting embrace. Today though, it was all she wanted. To cry and feel broken, and yet know that she had people, great people like Rori, around her who would pick the broken pieces back up and put her back together when this was all over with. She leaned into her friend, laying her head on Rori's shoulder and not giving a damn if it made her weak that she needed to be held like this ( ... )

Rori stroked Shosh's hair gently, knowing it took a lot for her friend to open up like this to her. They were best friends for a reason though, and Rori knew that with the exception of her brother, and possibly Ava these days, there was no one she could ever be this bare with emotionally. Shosh could trust her though. She would never tell.

"I know, sweets," she murmured, arms tightening around her. She wasn't the best at comforting people. She knew this. But she would rather try than not be here with her now. "No one expects you to push through the day like nothing happened. Nothing wrong with this."

She hadn't been sure if Shosh would want to spend the day in bed- which had been a guess, however- or go to her father's grave or what. This had been her first guess though. She tucked Shosh's head under her chin, hoping it wasn't too bony. Shosh was taller than Ava, so the position was rather different.

Shosh hadn't been sure how she wanted to spend the day, though she wasn't surprised it was playing out like this. She wasn't the type to stay in bed all day, but she couldn't find the energy to get out of bed and thankfully Rori wasn't making her. Part of her thought she should go to her Dad's grave, and God, that thought killed her. She had been to his grave a couple times in the last year, felt silly standing and talking to the ground, it had also felt comforting though. Maybe later today she would have the energy to venture out, for right now though she just wanted to stay right here and wallow.

All she could do was nod at Rori's words, knowing her friend was right, even if she wanted to be 'tough' and make it through this without falling apart. She didn't know if she could ever thank Rori enough for being here for her, doing this. Neither one of them were the 'comforting' sort, which made the fact that Rori was trying that much more appreciated. "I know they don't, but I expected to be able to function like a human."
