Ah, the Hawthorne. She was so much more comfortable here than some typical bar, Ad' thought as she entered the bar, wondering slightly if she would become a regular. She spotted Carrie right away and headed over, slipping her light suit jacket off on the way and folding it over her arm. "Hey, chica," she said as she got to the table. "It's good to see you."
She slid carefully into the chair opposite of Carrie, crossing her legs and waiting for Carrie to put her things away again.
Sliding her scrap paper into her purse, she zipped it up, then smiled at Ad' as the other woman got into her seat. "Long time, no see," she said warmly. "I went and ordered a drink, but I didn't know if you'd be hungry, so I held off on getting food. Have you had dinner?" She looked up and thanked the waitress as she put down her daiquiri and water, then turned back to Ad'. "How's work been going? Treating you well even as it keeps you busy?"
"I'm starved," Ad agreed. "It's been a whirlwind of a day." She turned to the waitress, asking for a menu. She was pretty sure she knew what she wanted already, having been to the Hawthorne several times. "Mm. Yeah. Can I get the Club sandwich please?" she asked, handing the menu back before turning back to Carrie.
"It's been amazing." Her eyes lit up as she talked about the business. "I never expected it to go this well, but Col' and I're running constantly." She paused. "Oh. Um." She fidgeted slightly, her voice lowering. "We're finally together, by the way." She didn't know how Carrie would react to that statement. She thought the other woman would be happy for her though.
"12-inch American Favorite, please," she added after Ad' had given their server her order, handing her own menu back, then flashing Ad' a grin. "And pizza for breakfast tomorrow, if there are any leftovers." As the waitress hurried away to her next table, Carrie took a long, appreciative sip of her daiquiri, happy for the cool liquid.
She grinned hugely, eyes dancing. "That's awesome! You've said you guys work so well together that I can't say as I'm surprised." Putting her glass down and leaning her cheek into her hand, she looked at her curiously. "So, how long? Was it the being even more around each other as business partners that tipped the scale?"
