The Hawthorne was quickly becoming a favorite place of Ryan's. It had a laid back atmosphere and it got him out of the office. Though he always ended up working on his articles there anyways. Fuck, he needed to get a life. Marie was the only person, who wasn't from work, that he saw on a regular basis anymore. It was sad that he was also including his housemates in that analysis. He was coming and going at such odd hours that he always seemed to miss Rori and Cody.

Ryan glanced up from his notepad when someone slipped into the bar stool a couple seats down from him. God, he looked really familiar. He ran through a mental list of people he'd interviewed (he knew this guy wasn't from the paper), trying to place a name to the face. It was probably weird to stare at the guy, but for as little people as he had interacted with lately it was driving him slightly nuts that he couldn't place the guy.

Elliot sipped at his drink, trying not to think too hard on anything. Instead, he opened his mind and allowed his eyes to wander around, not settling on any one thing or person. At least, not until he felt the weight of someone else's gaze. It was a familiar feeling, and he immediately set about finding the source of the gaze.

It was a familiar looking man a couple of stools down from him at the bar. He tilted his head contemplatively for a moment, running places and people through his head until he at least hit upon the 'where' he'd seen the guy before--the bakery.

He raised his glass politely to the other man. "You go to Jones French Bakery, don't you?" he said conversationally.

"Yeah," Ryan answered, glad that he hadn't simply been going crazy. He'd stopped by from time to time to visit Marie when she worked there and vaguely remembered seeing this man there on occasion as well. "My sister used to work there so I came in every now and then. Glad you figured it out though, I thought I might've been going crazy or something." Being in the business he was, it drove Ryan nuts when he couldn't place someone. "I'm Ryan, by the way."

"My girlfriend is the baker there," Elliot said, feeling a thrill that always came with naming Carrie as his girlfriend. His lips curved up in a small, pleased smile. He really was rather crazy about her, moreso than he might readily admit. "Carrie Harper, the brownie goddess." If his sister worked there--and he remembered Carrie mentioning a female coworker--then he would probably recognize the name.

"No, not crazy. I'm Elliot, nice to actually meet you," he said, extending his hand to the other man. "I'm often in a uniform when I go to the bakery, if that helps at all. In and out can look different sometimes," he said. He liked to visit Carrie on his lunch break, sometimes, or whenever he could get away.
