Erica was actually a little nervous about meeting Neve this week, which was ridiculous. Neve was incredibly non-judgmental, so shouldn't be worried about how Neve would react when she told her her big news. She drove the short distance to the little cafe, her fingers tapping the wheel being the only outward sign of her nerves.

She smiled when Neve caught her attention with a wave, and she went over to the table and slid into a chair across from her. "Hey, Neve. How's it going?" she asked. When the waitress came over, she asked for a coke and a chicken salad, not wanting anything really heavy today.

Neve waited for Erica to finish ordering before she replied to her question. “This week I officially became a mother of a teenager.” She wrinkled her nose at the fact that her oldest was not thirteen. “And in a very idiotic moment I agreed to a sleepover with twelve of her friends to celebrate.” Yes, she was still not looking forward to said sleepover. “Top that off with Ezra slowly driving everyone crazy fretting over the little details of Kyle’s party and you’ve mass chaos at the house.” Erica had asked how she was, and Neve was nothing if not honest. “Nevermind having a tough week at work and attempting to enter the dating world again…” Why she mentioned that last part she didn’t know. Erica really didn’t need to hear about her dating stresses.

Waving her hand, Neve smiled. “Anyway, enough about me. How have you been?” After all this was why they met, so that Erica would have someone to talk to; not for Neve to vent her stresses out to an already stressed out young woman.

Erica laughed lightly at the way Neve's nose wrinkled up at the thought of having a teenage daughter. Her eyebrows shot up when Neve admitted to agreeing to letting Shelby have a sleepover, and she pushed away the sudden burst of envy she felt that Shelby was so lucky to have a mom like Neve. Sleepovers hadn't been a part of her childhood, but she supposed it would be a much better use of her energy to be happy for the kids that did have the homes and families and opportunities that she hadn't had. But wow, thirteen twelve-to-thirteen-year-old girls all in one place - that sounded... Chaotic was a good word ( ... )

Neve sighed softly as she didn’t want to make this lunch appointment all about her. “All of the above.” She replied honestly, unable to go into serious details about anything that had happened because of privacy policies. She loved her job, she truly did but on weeks like this past week it was hard to love it when she was faced with knowing who her patients were. “Couple car accidents this week, and those are always hard.” Neve explained, each call was hard to deal with -but traffic accidents were something you never got used to showing up at ( ... )
