Date: 4 August 2011 Characters: Odessa Lytton, Star Abernathy (NPC), Jake Abernathy Location: JPS Hospital ER Status: Private Summary: It had been a very stupid accident. Completion: Incomplete
Star often took the time her father was in PT to explore the hospital and visit some of the various people there. In the time since her father had been admitted after the accident, she'd met some very nice staff here, and she liked to visit some of them and keep up with them. One of her favorite nurses was on ER rotation, so she often ghosted down there and sought her out, if she wasn't too busy. Most of the regular doctors and nurses knew her by sight, if not by name.
They really had spent a lot of time in the hospital since the accident.
She was shocked to find Dess down there, though, and she blinked, silent, for a long moment when she all but ran into the woman using crutches. She got that unsettling twist in her stomach she got every time someone she knew ended up hurting themselves.
"Dad's fine. He's at PT," she said automatically. She blinked again and tucked a long strand of hair behind one ear. "What're you doing here?" she asked. "And on those?" She indicated the crutches.
Oh, he was at PT, that was good. Dess smiled, feeling relieved. Jake had become one of her bright spots along with Ethan and Adam and Layla.
"Oh there was an small accident. Nothing major. Worst of it was a sprained ankle and well the only cure for that is time and crutches." Dess explained with a shrug.
Star eyed Dess, feeling bad for the ankle. She never liked to see people, even ones she might not be fully fond of, hurt and most especially laid up with crutches or a chair these days, because of her dad. She just didn't like it.
"Oh okay, that's good," she said, smiling at the woman in a measure of relief. Her dad would want to know, was her next thought. She didn't necessarily want to tell him... but he deserved to know, she supposed, and he would be really upset if he found out, and found out she knew, and hadn't told him.
"You should come on down and see Dad," she said. "He'll want to know."
Dess looked at the girl and sighed internally. She'd hoped that she could get in and out of here without making a fuss over anything. The accident was stupid and unavoidable and her fault, but on the other hand, Star would tell Jake she'd seen Dess and mm it was probably easier to just go with her and see Jake. She didn't want him to worry.

"Lead and I'll follow." She told the girl.
