Jay looked up when the door chime sounded and he saw the kid making a beeline for one of the display rack he'd just put up. He grinned widely and turned to see what had to be the kid's mom walking in as well. "Welcome to Oddball 42. I'd ask if I could help you find something, but it looks like he knows exactly what he's after." Which was a great thing. Jay loved new customers and he appreciated new customers who knew what they were looking for. Made it easier to make recommendations for other comics they might like if they could tell you or show you what they'd read before.

He leaned on the counter. "I'm Jay Shaw, owner." He introduced himself, smiling wide at the mom.

Lupe sent the man an easy smile; he seemed friendly enough, and she appreciated that he'd introduced himself to her before dealing with her son. She couldn't ever turn off her cop reflexes, it seemed. Though experience had given her those long before she'd entered the Academy.

"Lupe," she said, "I'm more or less along for the ride with this one." She jerked her head gently toward her son. "You have a nice shop."

"Spiderman," Mattie announced, looking over at him. "Got any?"

Jay nodded at her, "Pleasure to meet you." He grinned at her complimenting the shop. "Thanks, we do try." He loved what he did and it showed in the shop, or so he hoped.

"Ultimate Spider Man, Death of Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, New Avengers, FF, or the Spidey Fear Itself tie-ins," Jay asked Mattie immediately. "The trade paperbacks are organized alphabetically on the Marvel side of the graphic novels. The individual issues are over there, organized by latest first." Jay pointed out the various places to the kid.

"Likewise," she said. "I never got into comics, but my sister is. And Mattie's cousins definitely gave him the bug."

She winced with resignation at Mattie's rudeness, but she didn't have a chance to chide him before Jay answered, rattling off titles. Mattie listened with all the solemn deliberation of a nine year old.

"I want new stuff," he said. His aunt had some old comics in the attic; they were cool but all dusty mostly. "Amazing Spiderman, yeah?"
