It was a night where she didn't have to stick around all the way through the performance. They had a good crew on this one, and on Thursdays she was able to get a reprieve from making sure that things were set up for the Friday night showing. So shortly after seven, after making sure the performance had started without any hiccups, Demi had headed for Jasper's, rather excited to see him after how busy both of them had been ( ... )

Jasper hadn't heard Demi come in, he was so lost in his thoughts. He'd run out of things to distract him with, and now he was just staring into the refrigerator, trying to decide if he should make something to eat for him and Demi. He jumped slightly at the feel of her hands going around him, her lips on the back of his neck, and in spite of all the worry and stress he felt, he couldn't help but smile.

"Hey," he said just as softly, closing the refrigerator door and turning to greet her properly. He brushed his knuckles lightly over her cheek before ducking his head to kiss her. "Was just thinking about food, if you're hungry," he told her, and really, he wasn't stalling. And he liked to feed her, because she all too often forgot to eat when she was busy working, and it felt good to take care of her.

Demi smiled, tilting her chin up for another soft kiss. "Starved, actually," she admitted. "I ate lunch for once, but didn't have an opportunity to grab dinner. Gonna feed me again?" She made wide eyes at him, enjoying their easiness with each other.

Easing out of his arms, she boosted herself up onto the counter to watch him cook, legs swinging idly back and forth. It was easy to imagine a day, years from now, and her coming home to just this, him cooking dinner after she'd had a long day at the theatre. Or maybe the reverse, with her whipping something up after he'd gotten off shift. "How was your day?" she asked, grinning.

Jasper felt himself relax just a little more as she kissed him again. He was so nervous about what he had to tell her, about how she would react, and he didn't want to lose her. "Good," he said, grinning slightly when she said she'd at least eaten lunch. If he had more time, he'd have lunch with her everyday to make sure she was taking care of herself. "Yeah, think I could manage that."

As she jumped up to sit on the counter, Jasper opened the freezer and pulled out a bag of chicken stir fry. It would be simple and quick, he decided. "Hmmm, it was..." he paused, considering what he should say before finishing, "long. Had a lot to think about today," he said softly as he got a pan out and turned the stove on, pouring the frozen stir fry in.
