Harley hadn't been out in way too long. Too busy lately to think about it, and not a hell of a lot of people to go with. Not that she minded that too much, usually. Ariel would be a lot of fun though, and she was looking forward to it. Thad was chilling at home, and she was kind of glad for the night out. She was worried about him and it was starting to get on both their nerves.
She arrived at the bar Ariel'd mentioned, dressed in a faded black denim mini and a sleeveless fitted black hoodie that was unzipped to reveal a couple of sparkly purple tank tops she'd layered underneath. Her hands glinted with rings--she felt naked without them when she wasn't working--and bangles clinked at her wrists.
Ariel was easy to spot when she went in, so Harley walked over and joined her at the bar, hopping onto a stool next to her. "Hey," she said with a grin, then ordered a rum and ginger from the bartender. "I keep you waiting long?"
"Not at all, not at all," Ariel said, turning on her stool, her just-arrived beer in her hand. Earrings dangled from her ears, and her charm bracelet looped twice around her left wrist, dangling and shining the shine of the freshly polished.
She looked her friend over, smiling. "Lookin' good, Harley." She'd never seen her friend in a mini before, and for some reason it tickled her. Harley looked good, no lie.
"How's things going?" They kept up via text and such some, but nothing beat face to face, in Ariel's book.
"Cool. Got tied up with Wednesday, took twice as long to walk her today. Think she wanted to come out with me." Harley chuckled and nodded to the bartender who'd slid her drink over to her. The puppy was definitely running her ragged a little on top of her work schedule, but it was mostly in a good way.
She crossed her legs and grinned, tapping her bootie-clad foot against the rung of her stool. "Yeah, well you clean up pretty good yourself," she commented, and it was true, though Ariel'd never needed much help in that area. "I'm digging that skirt."
She shrugged. "Busy, kinda," she admitted. "Got my test coming up for my GED, working my ass off, chasing puppies and brothers and whatever else." She took a sip of her drink, felt it go down smooth. It wasn't bad. Not all watered down or anything like they tried to pull at some bars. "Glad you called--think I'm due to raise a little hell."
Ariel laughed. "Yes, and thus the reason I had no life when I had all of the puppies," she said. "And she probably did. They do get rather attached. Is she giving you any problems?" While Ariel wasn't professional at training or anything, there were several anecdotes she had that had helped through the years.
"Thanks," she said, pushing a curl of hair back with one hand. Ariel took a lot of pride in her appearance, mostly because she viewed it as one of her very few attributes. "Yeah, this is actually one of my favorites." She smoothed a hand down over it. While not too short, it still flattered her legs.
"Oooh, really? How d'you think the test will go?" she asked curiously. She hated school, sucked at it, or she would have offered to help out more with that. "Is Thad settling in well?" She grinned. "Was glad you agreed to come. I get tired of going out alone, and we've both been rather busy."
