RP: One More Cup of Coffee

When Marie walked into the Starbucks, she briefly looked around for Ava’s curly hair. She was stuck somewhere between relief and dread when she realized that she had been the first to get there. On the one hand, she wouldn’t have wanted to be late. On the other hand, she didn’t want to seem over eager and scare away a potential friend. Her curious and friendly nature had been misunderstood before, so Marie couldn’t say she would be too surprised.
She really hoped that wasn’t the case this time and reminded herself not to overrun Ava with too many personal questions. Ava seemed nice and Marie could really use a friend in town. Even if that friendship never extended outside of the walls of the West 7th Starbucks, Marie thought pessimistically.
It had been a tough week already and she wasn’t quite sure how she was going to make it through the rest of the week without going completely insane. Her internship started at NBC 5 on Monday. The excitement she had originally felt was disappointed by the reality that was filing. She had to start somewhere, she supposed, and she was willing to prove herself. By the end of the month she would be a filing ninja if it killed her.
Add that disappointment with her classes starting today and Ryan’s boxes invading her personal space, and coffee was really the only thing she had been looking forward too this week. Once again, she thought it was a bad sign she felt that way so early into the week. Marie rolled her eyes at herself before looking up at the menu. Just get over it, she berated herself. There were fates worse than filing and tripping over boxes.
