Date: April 20th, 2011 Characters: Brendon Collins, Rico Balderas Location: Respective places/Brendon's House Status: Private Summary: Brendon throws a surprise dinner for two for Rico's birthday. Completion: Incomplete
Thirty-two didn't feel any different than thirty-one. Rico hadn't cared much about birthdays in years, though. Not his own, at least. Once he hit twenty-one, there weren't really any milestone ages until he retired. Still, he and Lucia had gone to Cracker Barrel for breakfast before she had to go to school, and there were plans for a birthday slash Easter dinner on Sunday after church. Lucia had a babysitting job tonight, one that he'd insist she accept because money for her slightly used but new to her car was more important than sitting around watching T.V. with him.
He was glad to hear the phone ring, especially when the sound of 'Wannabe' let him know it was Brendon. Hopefully, Brendon would never learn that Rico used the Spice Girls as his personal ringtone. It was that or 'Wonderwall', though, and, well, Rico was in a Spice Girls mood when he assigned ringtones. He smiled as he clicked the talk button. "Hola, hermosa," he said.
"It was fine. Work kept me busy, and now I've got a cold beer in the fridge calling my name. How was your day?" Rico sat on the couch and put his feet on the coffee table.
"Busy is good; busy makes the day go by quicker," Brendon said with a smile, leaning against the counter. He put the phone between his shoulder and ear and opened up the bottle.
"It was nice. Took the day off so I could do some errands for the house and the Hawthorne. Now I'm just deciding what I want to do for dinner." Brendon paused as though he was musing over something. "I know you have a beer just waiting for you in the fridge but do you want to come over and eat with me?" he asked. "I have beer here too if that helps the swaying process any."
