Date: March 30th, 2011 Characters: Ezra Loy, Caleb Young Location: Muse Status: Private Summary: Ezra interviews for a job at Muse. Completion: Complete
Caleb had paperwork spread out over the end of the bar, as was becoming his Wednesday habit. Wednesday was Liquor Day as he liked to call it, when he was buried in new shipments and restocked alcohol, and it was just easier to bring some work down here while he waited for it all to come in. He had very light staff during the week, which meant doing most of the shelving and stacking himself amidst all his other work.
The door swung open and he looked up, expecting one of the barstaff coming in to do prep work for tomorrow, but it was Ezra. Caleb glanced surreptiously at his Blackberry and realised the afternoon had kinda got away from him. But he grinned and held out a hand. "Afternoon, Ezra. Why don't you have a seat on a stool, and we can talk. I was glad to see your application in my in-tray, by the way. Must've missed you when you came in to pick it up." Caleb was all over the place most of the time, but his staff knew how to point people in the right direction, especially for something as easy as fetching an app.
Ezra shook Caleb's hand before taking a seat on one of the bar stools. Once seated he had to remind himself not to fidget, even if the idea of what could come up during the interview made Ezea a little antsy. "Honestly I wasn't even sure I'd apply, which, yeah probably shouldn't have said that." He laughed, though the laugh sounded a little thin and tense.
"Yeah, your assistant manager Demi caught me when I came in on Friday." Ezra shrugged, remembering the less then stellar first impression he'd made that day. He really needed to make a better impression today, because being unemployed kind of sucked.
By this point Caleb was well used to interviewing people, and he could tell Ezra was pretty nervous, but it wasn't really in him to try and make the kid sweat more. He smiled and shrugged as he picked through the papers on the bar, surfacing with the file he had on Ezra. "Glad you took the leap, then."
"Oh, yeah -- she did mention you a few days ago," Caleb admitted, and opened the folder to glance at Ezra's app. "So why did you decide to apply after all?"
Ezra really wanted to chide himself for being so antsy, after all it was just a job interview and Caleb actually seemed like a pretty chill person. But the thought clung to the back of his mind that he would have to tell Caleb about his shoulder, especially if Caleb offered him a job.
"Yeah?" Ezra asked, a little surprised. " Honestly? Trying out the whole starving artist thing wasn't working, by friday of last week I was seriously considering a online gaming habit, so I figured that was a sure sign I needed to see if you had anything here I'd be able to do." He replied.
