Gold Saucer, Gaia, Sunday Afternoon (NFB)

It was a somewhat dejected Rikku who thumped up to Reno, rolling her shoulder until it cracked back into place.

Not that she wasn't having an awesome anniversary. She was. Two straight days of chocobo racing, playing silly arcade games, and she'd even talked him into going on the gondola rides. But it was the monster-fighting that was the real fun ( Read more... )

Reno was smirking as she approached him, his arms crossed over his chest. hey, she'd lost, but it was one heck of a good show right up until then.

"How do you mean, weird? Ho-Chus don't look like angry artichokes with fangs where you're from?"

So far as Reno knew, that's what they were supposed to look like, dammit.

"No, they totally do," she said, stretching her arm up over her head. There. Clicked back into place good as new. "But they're more open up top. Plus that guy only had two arm-tentacle things."

She huffed her exasperation. "I could have had him. I could have gotten at least two or three more of those stardust things."

Reno's world had small, glittery gems that cast Comet. Rikku's world didn't even have that spell. But it was non-elemental and major damage and it would be a freaking sweet compound for explosions. And they were a prize here at the Arena, with a fairly hefty price tag. She was racking up points like crazy to buy more.

"You know, I'm tryin' to picture one of them with more arms, and I'm thinkin' I don't wanna, yo." He grinned and stretched, tapping his EMR against his shoulder and eyeing the ring. "Too bad they don't let us tag-team these bastards. Two of us out there, kickin' ass? They could sic the whole pack of nasties on us, and we'd rock the joint, yo."

It'd be fun, okay?

"Is it my turn again? They haven't even given me any of the good handicaps yet, zoto. Or we can go meet the birds or somethin'."

"I want to see you turn into a frog," she chirped. "You'd make a cute frog.

It had been decidedly less cute, when it had happened to her three rounds back. This would not stop her from teasing him when he got amphibious.

"You know, we should ask that. If we can do a special two-on-one thing. I mean, they could double up the monster side, too."

Because, really, extra monsters would just be more of a good time.

She leaned up for a quick kiss. "For luck."
