Near the Lighthouse, Wednesday, After Dark

Rikku balanced on the edge of a boulder. The water here wasn't very deep -- a couple feet, at best -- and the rocks jutted out like craggy molars scattered across the shoreline. Tiny votive candles floated along the surface, giving a soft glow to the growing darkness.

Reno gave his EMR a tap against his shoulder, grinning as he stepped out from the woods onto the beach. Really, the candles were a nice touch, if entirely unexpected.

Fandom.

"Good night for a spar," he called out, making his way to the water's edge. "Looks like you even brought along some new toys, zoto."

Rikku held up her daggers, letting him inspect them in the growing dark. "I wanna try them out," she called back. "The Godhand doesn't have a dimmer switch. Great for killing things, not so hot for sparring."

She nodded to his EMR with a grin. "Did you put some of those fun marbles in it?"

"They're called materia," came Reno's rather good-natured reply, "and which ones I leave in there are gonna depend entirely on what it is them shinies of yours are capable of, yo."

He'd left his thundaga materia in his pocket, today. Mostly because he didn't want to crispy-fry anyone.

"Better gimmie a demonstration, huh?" The EMR tapped against his shoulder one more time, and then he was making a flying leap for the rocks in the water.

Rikku was already flipping backwards when he launched himself at her, closed fists finding solid spots on the boulder behind her. She pushed off, kicking her legs over, and landed neatly on the next rock. Hands up in a defensive position. Ready.

Okay, the daggers had one huge advantage on the Godhand -- she could do backflips with them, if she laid the daggers flat. Score.

"Nothing special," she said innocently. "I figured I'd give you a fighting chance, and all."

Red flag. Bull.
