At his compliment, Gemini smiled, taking the glass of champagne. "Thank ya kindly, Flynn. I've had a wonderful night so far." Some things about her couldn't be changed much, and her Texan accent was one of them, but he didn't seem to mind. And much to Gemini's surprise, she found herself more and more attracted to him as the night passed.

"It's odd," he said, his gaze not leaving hers. "This is only the second time I've celebrated the coming of a new year like this. We didn't celebrate a new year like this in my world. I quite like it."

Though there was a quality to Flynn's voice that said he had a special fondness for the tradition. "Though I prefer to treat a wish as a goal that one has to work towards bringing to reality. I'm afraid I no longer believe in miracles."
There was a note of solemness in his voice as he said that, but he returned his gaze to the beautiful red head with an earnest smile on his lips. "I'm glad I was able to help accomadate you then. It's a pleasure for me to spend tonight with someone as well. Especially someone like you."

Being asked out when he clearly seemed to her eyes as though he was under the influence of something might have given her pause, but (un)fortunately, the chocolates she had been tasting when he had arrived were also laced with a weaker love potion - not enough to have her fall as deeply as he had, but enough to simply be happy to spend more time with him.
And indeed, so far the date had been as good as her love potion-induced fantasies: every bit the perfect gentleman she knew him to be, and as for how he had only taken his eyes off her to address the waiter or to reassess their surroundings, well, she had done the same. And she liked being seen by her date as the most interesting thing in the whole Hotel.
"Thank you, Sir Flynn. I must say, you look quite dashing yourself, especially tonight," she replied.

"You flatter me," he said simply before reaching across the table to take hold of her hand. "Thank you for agreeing to come to this celebration with me. We don't have the likes of it at home, so I'm happy to spend it with someone I consider a dear friend."

"Thank you," Carol said, soft and sweet, as her bare fingers curled around the delicate glass. Not for the first time that evening, she was acutely aware of his unwavering attention, her bright lips lightly curling.
"You look wonderful too," she praised, gingerly smoothing a hand over his crisp suit jacket. "Very strapping."

"Thank you Carol," he smiled. "I'm so happy you agreed to come. I'm sure the thought of spending the evening with a complete stranger was less than appealing to you. Especially in a place like this."
With that said, Flynn took hold of her free hand with his and raised it so he could place a kiss on the back of it. "Thank you for giving me the oppurtunity to prove myself."

"Oh... on the contrary, actually..." Her gaze fell, just for a moment really, shying and peering into her glass, before it met his once more. "I feel quite giddy in your company. And safe."
