Wedding Day (yours, not his)/Aphro Varies

Nov 05, 2011 01:00

It was...the big day. Someone that had managed to get close to him that wasn't Souji-senpai was doing something he never thought he'd see them do--they were getting married. It bothered him when it was announced months ago, and not because he disliked marriage or thought his friend no good for it ( Read more... )

She's been aged up to 17-18 since I brought her back. Canon age is 16-ish anyway ragingblossom November 6 2011, 01:32:14 UTC
It was lucky that he was there because Sakura had only a basic skill when it came to mending clothes, and Kanji had worked hard on this dress, she knew. She didn't want to chance messing it up, so when he spotted it for her she chose to chalk it up to his eye for detail, not dumb luck.

Sakura stopped where she stood, bouquet in one hand, the other braced lightly on his shoulder as he worked.

"I can hardly believe how fast today came around, can you?" She asked, smiling a bit sheepishly, but happy. What she was so nervous for she had no idea. She wasn't even the one getting married, she was just one of the bridesmaids!

Indeed! I've read a bit of the manga textile_kanji November 6 2011, 04:25:51 UTC
Kanji chalked up the excitement to it being a woman kind of thing; if it were him, he would probably be more than just nervous. All he was right now was relieved it wasn't Sakura getting hitched.

"Uh...yeah. Kinda fast, huh?" He was also a little warm feeling, well aware that Sakura's hand was on his shoulder. Still, though, they were plenty close by now, he could handle something as simple as contact. His heart was beating a little fast as he worked on the loose bit, wondering if now was even a good time to say anything to her.

He would definitely not tell her that he kept this little bit loose on purpose in order to give the two of them sort of lingering moment together...

Heh, Sakura doubted if it would ever be her going down the aisle. She'd spent the better part of her younger years pining after Sasuke, and when she wasn't busy with that her head was in the books, then there was training, and even after getting over Sasuke she had med school to prepare for. Love life? What love life? The closest she ever got was watching movies or reading about it. Kanji was her saving grace, though. He kept her from going overboard and thanks to him she had some semblance of a social life. Thanks to him it was just that much easier for her to make time for her other friends-- not a lot of time, she still took her chosen career path seriously, but she didn't turn into a complete work-o-holic bookworm.

She probably wasn't even aware of exactly how close they'd become over the years, though (She didn't even use an honorific for him anymore, up till sort of recently that had been reserved for a small handful of friends, like Ino and Naruto.), just... so used to him always being there ( ... )

Believe it! textile_kanji November 6 2011, 04:41:46 UTC
Yeah, he thought often about how close they had gotten. His old self would have gotten ten times more nervous than the young man felt right now, but Souji--and nowadays Sakura--really helped to shape and mold him, even if Sakura wasn't quite so aware of it.

So deep in his thoughts was he that he didn't quite notice Sakura even speaking to him until he saw her trying to look at him out of the corner of his eye. Startled, he loops the needle a little too sharply and jabs himself in the finger.

"Tch! Dammit..." He looks down and places his finger in his mouth, nursing the little jab with a frown on his face. If his face wasn't red enough before, after embarrassing himself in front of her?

It was a bit redder, to say the least.

Naoto remained still as Kanji worked. This was certainly awkward, but she didn't mind. Everything had to be perfect for the wedding and if there was just a single thing off on her maid of honor's dress and Rise wouldn't forgive her. Actually, Naoto might not be able to forgive herself more than the overly excited bride.

The ceremony was supposed to proceed very shortly, but she kept her mouth shut, looking over at the door separating them from the other occupants in the cathedral. Ah... hopefully everything would go over smoothly.

"I wonder if we're causing any hold up..."

Kanji swallows and says nothing in response at first. It doesn't take him very long to fix the little patch up before he's back on his feet, his eyes steadily on her. It used to be that he couldn't even really glance her way without having to glance in the other direction.

Now though, he had come pretty far, and even Naoto had in her own little way--if she really, truly didn't want to wear the dress (she looked so beautiful in!) she was currently wearing, Rise wouldn't have made her, right? Or was that just wishful thinking?

"Oh uh, guess not now." He replies, offering Naoto a bit of a reassuring smile. Dammit, he was running out of time to tell her!

Her eyes follow Kanji as he stands up. Nerves getting the better of her, Naoto's arm cross over her chest, not at all helping to flatten her breasts. Should they be lingering any longer? Oddly, she can't draw her eyes away. Perhaps due to the fact that... Kanji could pull off a suit really well when he tried.

"... W-We should probably go. There will be time to... talk after the ceremony."

"Oh, ah, right." Kanji nods and tucks away his needle into his spool of thread before tucking it into the inner pocket of his jacket. As for his suit...well, it made by him for him, so the measurements and even the materials were perfect as could be for him and whatever sensibilities and preferences he may have.

"Yeah, they might start any second, huh?" Shaking his head, Kanji decides to save the conversation for after the ceremony, once everyone left the area too, probably. His cheeks a little red, Kanji adds, "Meet me back here after everyone's gone, alright?"

Kanji wasn't the only bundle of nerves in the building. Chie was practically a whole mountain of them. She never dreamed that things would turn out like this when they first met. Who would have believed it? She doubted even Kanji himself had ever had a minor passing thought about her being attractive to him. But time passed, and things changed.

And here he was, putting one last finishing touch on her wedding dress. Even that had been a surprise, since Chie was pretty sure anything white and puffy and lacy and pretty would look terrible on a girl like her. He'd made it work beautifully, though, so much so that even Chie could smile at her reflection and feel proud of her looks ( ... )

Kanji perks at the question, a concentrated look on his face--part frustration about dealing with the loose bit and part regular-look-he-usually-has-on-his-face. It melts away when he looks up at Chie though, and not just because she was a little older, no; they were past the whole Senpai, kun honoriffic part of things.

She just...looked really amazing, and he wasn't thinking that just because she was wearing something he made. It was simple fact. "That's just some old bullshit adults tell other adults. Uh, I mean, better than letting the thread get worse. Heh, unless you wanna trip and fall on the way out."

"That does seem like something I'd do," she laughed, some of the tension leaking from her shoulders. Chie was hardly clumsy, but she was nervous, and on such a big day it seemed like she was bound to fumble up somewhere. She would just...rather it not involve the dress he'd painstakingly made for her. Kanji had real talent if he could make someone like her look like a glamorous bride. The little flowers woven into a wreath on her hair were surprisingly cute, and gave her a pixie-like look. Smelled nice, too!

Unable to help herself, she reached out with a gloved hand, brushing her thumb along his cheekbone. Tradition be damned, she was glad he'd come to see her before things started. It gave her courage.

"You know...I never thought you'd look so handsome in a tuxedo. It really looks great!"

Of course it smelled nice! Kanji knew a thing or two (and probably more than Chie herself, even by now) about looking and smelling your best. Even on his worst days out he was perfectly styled from head to toe. His mornings obviously took a little than others...

"Tch, what're you talkin about?" Kanji murmurs, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. She really did look very beautiful, though Kanji knew he'd look good in a suit. Hell, he could have worn her dress pretty damn well too.

I-If he wanted, that is! He so didn't. Not at all........
